German renewable energy company RWE Innogy said all 48 turbines at the Nordsee Ost wind farm off the German coast are in place.

"We were able to successfully complete the turbine installation over Christmas after only seven months," Project Director Marcel Sunier said in a statement Monday. "All our attention now is on the commissioning."

Nordsee Ost will provide at its peak 295 megawatts of power, enough to meet the annual electricity demands of 300,000 German households.

Sunier explained the next phase would be connecting each wind power unit to the grid one-by-one to ensure it's ready for full-scale operations.

"The first wind turbine has commenced trial operation in the past few days and is already feeding her green electricity into the grid," he said.

The German Association of Energy and Water finds renewable energy provided 27.3 percent of domestic electricity consumption in 2014, up about 3 percent from the previous year.

For European member states, the country had the highest level of carbon dioxide emissions in 2013.

Nordsee Ost will be connected fully to the German energy grid by early 2015.
