Scira Offshore Energy has awarded Baze Technology, contractor in joint co-operation with leading renewable energy consultancy Natural Power, with the contract for their wind farm portfolio information system, WindManager, on the Sheringham Shoal wind farm. The site, located approx 20 km off the coast of Norfolk, England, will consist of 88 x 3.6MW wind turbines giving a total capacity of 317MW when fully operational. Scira Offshore Energy Ltd is owned 50% by Statoil ASA and Statkraft AS, with Statoil ASA being the operator for the development and construction phase and operations. The Bazefield wind farm management system, promoted in the UK as WindManager, will provide unsurpassed real time wind farm management on the site based on 4 modules for effective operations: Monitoring, Analysis, Operations Management and Expert. On the announcement of the Scira contract signing, Sigurd Juvik, CEO of Baze Technology said: "We are proud to be selected for the Sheringham Shoal project. Scira has high ambitions within the field of wind farm operations and we truly believe WindManager will be central in achieving these aims. Our strategy as a product company is to grow through partnerships globally and Natural Power represents an ideal partner within the renewable energy field." Natural Power offers WindManager in conjunction with their existing suite of wind farm tools including WindCentre, a 24/7 operations control room, ForeSite for wind farm energy forecasting and SeaPlanner for offshore GIS, site and data management. These tools, coupled with the company's ongoing management services on over 1.2GW of operating wind farms in the UK and Ireland ensures client wind farm assets are maintained and operated to maximise revenue and minimise downtime, all to the highest Health and Safety standards achievable.
