PowerAdvocate Receives DOE Funding To Accelerate Wind Power Development
Boston MA (SPX) May 29, 2009 PowerAdvocate is pleased to announce that it has been selected to receive a DOE Stimulus Funding award to support the "20% Wind Energy by 2030" initiative. PowerAdvocate will specifically concentrate on overcoming supply chain obstacles to Wind Power. In order to meet the 20% Wind Energy scenario by 2030, significant investment will need to occur into the domestic wind supply chain. Currently, critical supply chain bottlenecks exist for key components such as gearboxes, structural metal, and inverters. The transmission interconnection, as well, is proving to be challenging as companies are currently struggling to meet existing demand. As the market drives forward to meet the vision of a broader base of domestic wind energy, one of the key, underdeveloped resources will be the wind turbine supply chain. The ability for utilities, state and federal governments, developers, contractors, and suppliers to navigate these supply hurdles will help to determine the success with which America re-powers around wind energy.
