"Rosneft and Gazprom are conducting talks with Japanese companies on new joint hydrocarbon projects," Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said at a press briefing.
The strategic area of cooperation is the fuel and energy complex Ushakov mentioned the successful implementation of the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 oil and gas projects (Japanese companies own 30 and 22.5 percent of shares in them, respectively).
Novatek is building a LNG plant under the Yamal LNG project with the participation of the GJC and Chiyoda corporations.
The Arctic LNG 2 project is about to be launched. "Rosneft and Gazprom are conducting talks with Japanese companies on new joint hydrocarbon projects," said Ushakov.
He also cited cooperation on renewable energy (with the Energy Systems of the East and RusHydro), discussions of options for building the Russia-Japan energy bridge and the good prospects in civilian nuclear energy.
